Audio and visual technologies have been used in classrooms for many years. Some traditional audio and visual technologies are still used today, such as audiocassettes. Audiocassettes have been around for a long time because they are affordable and easy- to-use by all ages. For these reasons I would use audiocassettes in my classroom. Also, with its easy-to-use features students are able to read along to books or just listen and answer questions along the way and after the readings are done. For traditional visual technologies we are still involved with using broadcast video. As a teacher I would continue to use broadcasting video because it is educational television that allows the students to learn in a fun manner and watch TV while learning at the same time.

Chapter 11: Audiovisual Technologies
Chapter 6: Digital Technologies in the Classroom
After reading this chapter about technology in the classroom I would have to say that as a new teacher, I would prefer to teach in a classroom that had more digital technologies. The reason being, our society is changing rapidly involving lots of technology, students need to know how to use these technologies and what better way to teach the proper uses then in a classroom? Technologies such as scanners are great for copying a hard copy image into a digital document where they can then manipulate the document in any means nessisary. Electonic Whiteboards also seem to be a great way to get the students involved and interested in what they are trying to learn. Being able to save something written down on a white board before erasing it is a great advancement in technology. Technology is to help us better and make our world easier, and if we can educate our students in these neat new ways, learning will be twice as fun.

All About Me
Hi, I'm Emily Shrilla. I hate it when the computer says my last name is spelled wrong, like really? What does it know! RUDE. Anyway, I am from Westerville Ohio, I have one brother and 2 cats (Sonny and Bubba). My favorite color is purple, and my lucky numbers are 7, 10, and 24. I have one 16 year old brother that currently obtains my beautiful 2001 Honda Civic. I'm currently attending Bowling Green State University to become a Middle Childhood Educator specializing in math and science. In the winter I love snowboarding and the summer months I spend the sunny days on the beach and wakeboarding. I was also involved in Color Guard for 3 years. In a nut-shell that's all about me!
